Friends

Honestly, I shouldn’t even have to say more. This show is everything, in my opinion, this is what true classic comedy should look like. If you live in another dimension and have not heard of friends, it is a sitcom tv show from the nineties. I believe that the reason for the success and love for the show is due to the cast’s connection with their audience, it takes you through their whole journey. The iconic cast and the memorable jokes keep the audience hooked and wanting more.

Dynasty

I started watching this show during quarantine and I kid you not I started on a Saturday and was looking for the third season on a Wednesday. I had watched the first episode when the show first came out because I was interested that Elizabeth Gillies who plays the role of Fallon was the main character who also played Jade in ‘Victorious’. I never really got into the show until the quarantine had started. The show is a reboot of the 1980s soap opera, it is about two excessively well off families. The Carrington family dynasty is filled with scandals and bad behaviour which they struggle to conceal from the public when matters get out of hand. After Fallon loses the company inheritance to her step-mom, she plots against them with her father’s nemesis, Jeff Colby.

White-collar

Neal Caffrey who is played by Matt Bomer was caught after a 3-year chase with the FBI. Neal is a con artist, thief and forger. In his four year sentence, he escaped with only 3 months remaining to look for his girlfriend kate. This time when he got caught he proposed a deal with FBI agent Peter Burke to help catch white-collar criminals on a work-release. After lots of thought, Peter accepts his offer, and that is when their relationship begins.

You

This psychological thriller takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Based on the page-turning book of the same name by Caroline Kepnes, this show will have you on the edge of your seat. The story is similar to the very classic “boy falls in love with girl” storyline except, in this case, the boy is a sociopathic and a deranged stalker. What is so unique about this series you may be asking? Well, this series gives us a very strange and surreal look at this stalker. You will most likely find yourself being empathetic towards him and you may even find yourself rooting for him. This story will take you for a wild ride, and that is one of many reasons I love it. If you are a fan of psychological series or thrillers, this one will keep you hooked.

Jane The Virgin

This show is impeccable. Following the story of a young woman named Jane who, by the title is a, you guessed it, a virgin is artificially inseminated. This series sheds light on so many important issues which are one reason why I am hooked. The writers brilliantly know how to mess with your emotions. Every character has an extremely interesting and unique story of their own, and it makes this show so much better. If you love drama, thrillers, romance, mystery, comedy and/or crime, you will be dumbfounded by how good this series is.

Modern Family

I was never really familiar with this show

until it was recently released on Netflix.

Modern family is a light and fun show that keeps the audience entertained. I quickly got hooked on the show and finished the first season in just a day. The show revolves around three generations of families who are interrelated and follows their daily lives. What makes the show interesting is the endearing characters - a hot-headed Hispanic mother who is way out of her husband’s league and age group, a gay couple who've just adopted a baby and another family that includes an overprotective mother and a dorky but lovable dad. The storylines and characters keep the show relevant and never fails to get a laugh out of the audience. I believe the show is successful due to the clever writing with no “insulting humour” as well as rarely any sexual content.

The fresh prince of bel air

This is another show from the nineties and is lowkey my favourite show starring Will Smith as himself fictionalized. Will is a street smart teenager who gets into a fight in his home town. His mother wanted him to be smarter and to have a better education so she decided to send him to Bel-air to stay with his cousins. Bel air was nothing like Philadelphia! He wasn’t used to their luxurious ways and didn't blend with the people there but things slowly changed. Will manages to fit in and became an influence at school and at home, his cousins soon became the family he never had. This show is definitely a must-watch!
